“Discipline and united action are the real source of strength for the nation.” - Anonymous
On October 2, 2026, a special combined assembly organised by Chakra House commemorated Gandhi Jayanti and Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti, offering students an opportunity to reflect on the values of truth, courage, discipline, unity and responsible action embodied by the two national leaders. The assembly provided a meaningful space for young SAIoneers to reconnect with the ideals of leaders who shaped the nation through conviction, simplicity and selfless service.
The programme began with a soulful rendition of “Where the Mind is Without Fear,” setting a reflective tone and highlighting the importance of fearless thought, truth, reason and an ever-widening spirit of learning and action. The Thought for the Day, “Discipline and united action are the real source of strength for the nation,” by Lal Bahadur Shastri Ji, further emphasised the importance of collective responsibility and disciplined action.
The Word of the Day, “Courage,” was explored as the ability to face difficulty, fear or pain while choosing to act with determination. This connected meaningfully with the life and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi, whose principles of Satyagraha, truth and non-violence were presented through a thoughtful segment on his life and legacy. A special video presentation on Lal Bahadur Shastri Ji further introduced students to his simplicity, humility, discipline and dedication to the nation.
A significant highlight of the assembly was the introduction of the Blue Brigade, who were warmly wished success as they prepare to carry forward the spirit of environmental responsibility through the upcoming Blue Walk – Campus Rally and Water Body Cleaning Activity. Their introduction connected the values celebrated during the assembly with the responsibility of young citizens to translate ideals into purposeful action and contribute towards the well-being of the environment.
The assembly concluded with the Indian National Pledge, reaffirming the values of respect, devotion, unity and collective well-being, followed by a heartfelt tribute to the enduring legacies of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri Ji. The occasion served as a gentle reminder that meaningful change begins with courageous thoughts, disciplined action and a deep sense of responsibility towards the nation and the planet.
