At SAI International Residential School, creating a safe and secure learning environment is a shared responsibility that extends beyond infrastructure to building awareness, preparedness, and confidence among every member of the school community. Reinforcing this commitment, the Administration Department conducted a comprehensive Fire Safety Mock Drill and Awareness Session on 1st August 2026 for all staff members and campus duty holders.
The session was designed to equip participants with practical knowledge and essential skills to respond effectively during fire emergencies. It focused on creating awareness about different types of fire incidents, their possible causes, and the most appropriate methods of controlling them using various firefighting techniques and equipment. Participants were introduced to different fire extinguishing agents, including water, foam, carbon dioxide (CO₂), dry chemical powder, and other firefighting methods, while also learning about the specific situations in which each type of extinguisher is most effective.
A key highlight of the programme was the live demonstration conducted by trained personnel, who provided hands-on guidance on the correct operation of fire extinguishers and emergency response procedures. The demonstration also covered safe evacuation protocols, effective coordination during emergencies, and the importance of maintaining composure in high-pressure situations. Through practical exposure, staff members gained valuable insights into identifying potential fire hazards, protecting vulnerable individuals during emergencies, ensuring orderly evacuation, and responding swiftly and responsibly to unforeseen situations.
The interactive mock drill encouraged active participation, enabling staff members to translate theoretical knowledge into practical action. Such institutional safety exercises play a crucial role in strengthening emergency preparedness by building confidence, reducing panic, improving response time, and fostering a culture of collective responsibility across the campus.
