On 10th January 2025, Astaranga Auditorium was full to the brim with that spirit of respect for Hindi as a national language. It hosted a special combined assembly organized by the Hindi Department to observe the honoring of Vishwa Hindi Diwas 2025. It bore witness to the unwavering commitment of the school to the complete nurturing of respect and love for Hindi and its beautiful cultural heritage.
There was a soulful prayer in Hindi at the start of the assembly, calling for unity and reverence. As the day proceeded, the audience went through a series of very enlightening segments that brought to light the global importance of the Hindi language. The assembly had Vishwa Hindi Diwas-that was more observed to celebrate Hindi recognition as the third most spoken language of the world.
The Reverence for Hindi: A Global Perspective
Vishwa Hindi Diwas was of colossal importance, for it narrated what Hindi stood for as ties of culture and almost neighbors. The language connects over 600 million people worldwide and symbolizes communication, unity, and identity. Students were informed about language transcending borders and linking individuals from all walks of life.
A Journey into the Wisdom of Sant Kabir Ji
A precious and feeling moment came when the juniors went to stage to recite time immemorial Dohas of Sant Kabir Ji. These couplets, filled deep spiritual meaning, echoed as much in the ear of the young as in the old. The students brought alive the deep teachings with their heartfelt expression.
One of the first Dohas recited was:
“गुरु कुम्हार शिष कुंभ है...”
This Doha beautifully illustrated the role of a teacher, akin to a potter, shaping the student like clay. It emphasized the transformative influence of a teacher in refining one’s character and eliminating imperfections.
Another impactful Doha was:
“निंदक नियरे राखिये...”
This verse shared a valuable lesson on the importance of constructive criticism. Kabir Ji’s words remind us to keep those who point out our flaws close, as they help us grow and become better individuals.
“ऐसी वाणी बोलिए...”
This line spoke to the power of speech. It taught the audience that our words have the ability to heal, comfort, and uplift. Kabir Ji’s words encouraged kindness, reminding us to speak in a way that promotes peace and harmony.
Finally, the recital concluded with the thoughtful lines:
“माला तो कर में फिरै...”
These words emphasized that true devotion arises not from mechanical actions, but from a deep and sincere focus of the heart. It reminded everyone to approach life and rituals with genuine intent.
