SIRS Observes World Mental Health Day with a Webinar on Sleep and Brain Health

To mark World Mental Health Day, the Interact Club of SAI International Residential School (SIRS) hosted an insightful webinar on 10 October 2025, titled “Importance of Sleep in Brain Health.” The event was organised in collaboration with the Sound ‘N’ Mind Foundation and supported by Brainline, Rotary Club of Calcutta Newbies, Rotaract, and Interact.

The resource person, Dr Ashok Hande, Consultant Neurosurgeon at Hiranandani Fortis Hospital, Mumbai, shared his expertise on the crucial relationship between sleep, brain function, and mental health, emphasising the importance of adequate sleep for cognitive efficiency, emotional balance, and stroke prevention.

Through engaging visuals, interactive discussions, and relatable examples, Dr Hande encouraged students to view sleep as an essential part of overall health rather than a luxury. He also guided them on managing academic stress and developing sustainable habits for improved well-being.

The session received an enthusiastic response from students and faculty, reinforcing SIRS’s commitment to nurturing mindful, balanced, and emotionally resilient individuals. The event served as a reminder that true excellence begins with a healthy mind and a well-rested brain.
