Singapore, January 4, 2025 –SAI International’s Global Immersion Program 2024 brought students on an enriching 15-day journey, from December 21, 2024, to January 4, 2025, blending cutting-edge education with immersive cultural exploration. This year, the program included a prestigious AI internship at the National University of Singapore (NUS), offering students deep insights into fields such as Machine Learning, data analytics, and computer vision. Through hands-on experiences, academic exploration, and cultural exchanges, the program provided a well-rounded opportunity for personal and academic growth.
Upon arrival in Singapore, students were introduced to NUS and began their internship in Artificial Intelligence. Under the guidance of esteemed professors, including Professor Tan, students participated in comprehensive sessions covering topics like data analytics, machine learning algorithms, and cloud computing. These sessions were not only informative but also provided practical applications through real-world projects. The students worked on applying techniques like decision trees, K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN), and Support Vector Machines (SVM), gaining a thorough understanding of AI’s potential in various industries, including healthcare and sustainability.
In addition to their academic pursuits, the students explored Singapore’s iconic landmarks and vibrant culture. They visited Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay, and Chinatown, immersing themselves in the rich cultural tapestry of the city. Celebrating the festive season, the group enjoyed a visit to Universal Studios Singapore on Christmas Day, allowing for some downtime while building lasting friendships.
The program also featured practical applications of AI in real-world scenarios, such as object detection with computer vision and cloud-based machine learning with Amazon Web Services (AWS). Students built AI solutions using tools like Amazon SageMaker and S3, gaining valuable experience in cloud computing and its role in AI development.
To complement their learning, the students took part in team-building activities, including visits to Sentosa Island, where they enjoyed thrilling rides and a Harry Potter-themed experience. The culmination of their learning experience was marked by a grand celebration at Marina Bay Sands, where they rang in the New Year with spectacular fireworks and festivities.
Throughout the program, students also engaged in presentations and mock projects, showcasing their newly acquired skills and collaborating with peers from diverse backgrounds.
