SAIoneers Join Youth-led Seminar on Beating Plastic Pollution at Sri Sri University

On 11 July 2025, students from SAI International Residential School actively participated in a powerful youth-centric seminar and training program on “Beat Plastic Pollution: Steps to a Greener Planet” held at Sri Sri University, Cuttack. The event was organised by the Rover and Ranger Unit of Sri Sri University with support from the Odisha State Bharat Scouts and Guides, in collaboration with the Sattvic Soul Foundation.

Bringing together more than 170 students and faculty members from over 43 institutions, the seminar aimed to raise awareness about plastic pollution and inspire sustainable practices among young citizens. The event was graced by Mrs. Anamika Das, Joint State Secretary and State Organising Commissioner (Guide), Odisha State Bharat Scouts and Guides, who spoke passionately about the vital role of youth in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

One of the most compelling sessions was led by Mr. Satyabrata Samal, widely known as The Climate Man of Odisha. His presentation stressed the urgent need to eliminate single-use plastics and adopt eco-friendly alternatives. The students also benefited from engaging talks by eminent speakers, including Swami Satya Chaitanya ji, Prof. J. P. Bhatt, Dr. Sandeep Rout, and Prof. Jaita Mondal, who explored themes related to environmental health, SDG implementation in educational institutions, and the importance of youth-led initiatives.

The day concluded with the felicitation of competition winners and Rajya Puraskar awardees. As a meaningful reminder of the event’s message, every participant was given seedballs symbolising a commitment to a greener future.

The program served as a strong platform for students to reflect on their role in environmental conservation and take active steps toward creating a sustainable planet.
