On July 14, 2025, a 12-member delegation from SAI International School and SAI International Residential School set out from Biju Patnaik International Airport to participate in the 15th Harvard Model United Nations India. After arriving at Kempegowda International Airport, the students enjoyed lunch before heading to the Hilton Manyata Business Park to attend the grand Opening Ceremony. The conference began with an inspiring keynote address by Ambassador Ruchira Kamboj, Former Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations. She urged the young delegates to debate fearlessly, ask the right questions, and lead with compassion.
Soon after, the delegates attended their first committee sessions, engaging in debates and discussions across a variety of forums such as the Arctic Council, Cuban Missile Crisis, DISEC, and Ad-Hoc committees. A proud moment arrived when Tarun Tapan Bhuyan and Syed Ayaan Ali were selected among the top 20 students from over 400 applicants to attend an exclusive gala dinner with Rohit Subrahmanian, Founder of Athena Education. This recognition was a testament to their talent and leadership skills. The rest of the delegation had an equally enriching evening, filled with networking, lobbying, and committee deliberations, before enjoying a fulfilling dinner and returning to their rooms.
The first day at HMUN India 2025 set a remarkable tone for the journey ahead, promising days of intellectual growth, cultural exchange, and global learning for the SAIoneers.
