JUGALBANDI OF SARANGI AND TABLA @ SIRS

An aerosphere of music was created at SAI International Residential School by the great Sarangi exponent Ustad Sabir Khan; he was accompanied by Shri Aadil Khan on Tabla. Ustad Sabir Khan interacted with the students and briefed them about the history and origin of the 41-stringed Sarangi, the various Ragas and how different songs are composed based on a single Raga.

Ustad Khan is the son of legendary Sarangi player and vocalist Padma Bhushan Ustad Sultan Khan and is the 9th generation of the Sikar Gharana of music. He has been honored with several accolades including the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar and Sangeet Natak Akademi Yuva Puraskar.

The event was introduced by The Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY).
