Founder’s Cup Debate 2026: Where Ideas Meet Courage and Perspectives Inspire Progress

The Founder’s Cup Debate 2026 was hosted on September 29, 2026, at the Astaranga Auditorium, bringing together the articulate, inquisitive and confident voices of SAIoneers for an intellectually stimulating celebration of critical thinking, constructive dialogue and the courage to challenge perspectives. Instituted in 2009 by Late Founder Dr. Bijaya Kumar Sahoo as the Chairman’s Cup, the debate has since evolved into an integral part of the Founder’s Memorial Series, reflecting his vision of nurturing young minds who think critically, speak fearlessly and listen with empathy.

The 2026 edition featured two thought-provoking themes. Students of Classes IX–X debated “In the Age of AI, Original Thinking Is Becoming Obsolete,” while Classes XI–XII explored “AI Learning Will Deepen Educational Inequality, Not Dissolve It.” Through well-articulated arguments, counterarguments and insightful exchanges, the participants demonstrated research, intellectual curiosity, confidence and the ability to engage constructively with contrasting viewpoints.

The event was judged by an eminent panel comprising Dr. Monalisa Mishra, Associate Professor, Regional College of Management, Bhubaneswar; Dr. Silpi Sahoo, Chairperson, SAI International Education Group; and Mr. Nilakantha Panigrahi, Academic Director and Senior Principal, SAI International School. Their presence brought together academic insight, leadership and a shared commitment to nurturing young debaters.

Dr. Monalisa Mishra appreciated the students’ performances and the seamless conduct of the programme. She recognised the thoughtful balance between seemingly opposing perspectives, describing the dynamic as the Yin and Yang of debate, while also appreciating the attention to detail and collective preparation that contributed to the energetic and well-coordinated presentation.

Adding another enriching dimension to the programme, Dr. Silpi Sahoo moderated an engaging interaction with the participants, encouraging them to reflect further on the ideas presented during the debate. Dr. Monalisa Mishra also shared her experiences and insights with the students, extending the learning beyond the debating floor and making the occasion an opportunity for reflection and meaningful exchange.

The Founder’s Cup Debate 2026 stood as a fitting tribute to the founding vision of fostering fearless thought, respectful disagreement and meaningful dialogue. More than a platform for presenting arguments, the debate encouraged students to listen deeply, question thoughtfully and engage with different perspectives, reaffirming that the ability to think independently and understand viewpoints beyond one’s own is an essential part of becoming a responsible and informed global citizen.
