“One child, one teacher, one book, one pen can change the world.”  — Malala Yousafzai

One is learning every day no matter what; the teachers too become students in the workshops and trainings at SAI International Residential School. An Interactive Teaching and Learning Method workshop was held to make teaching more effective, on Friday, February 22, 2019 by expert resource persons Smt. Nabanita Deshmukh and Shri. Bibhashjyoti (Bapu) Deshmukh.

The first day of the workshop dealt in Effective English teaching with innovative ideas. The workshop aimed at demonstrating the use of newspapers as tools for teaching. It also guided teachers to design language activities using newspaper articles to make learning fun and interesting. Participants were taught how to evaluate newspapers for using them effectively in classrooms. They were asked to underline verbs, nouns and adjectives, each group came out with creative works.

Writing and reading English is simpler but it is important for teachers to understand each word they listen to, in order to enhance the listening skills of teachers an audio clip of the BBC News was played for them to listen to keenly and find out the news content.

Twenty teachers participated in the first session on Friday and are looking forward to the next one. It was indeed a great learning opportunity for the teachers of SIRS.
