Guidance on The Path Ahead : SAI Alumni Talk

“Plan for what is difficult while it is easy, do what is great while it is small.” – Sun Tzu

Dr. Somyadipta Satpathy delivered an alumni talk with SAIoneers on April 30, 2021. He spoke in a very grounded and with soft spoken mannerisms to students in detail about his journey so far. From the start he mentioned that he was much more comfortable with numbers and knew that he would definitely opt for Engineering. Yet within a short time, when he got the option of studying biology, he made up his mind for opting for medical too. He was one of those very few lucky ones who had cleared both Engineering and Medical with top grades.

Somyadipta states it is the student’s choice to make the career choice yet he is very thankful for the kind of support and guidance that was extended by Akash Institute, that prepared him very well for appearing for competitive exams. He was very lucky to have got the chance to prepare for Engineering and medical and getting a combination of PCMB so being eligible not only for medical field but also for engineering fields.

He strongly recommended to make a routine to self-study. He credited the teachers of SAI International School, to have given him the best possible guidance. He advises, to just note down the content of the exam syllabus and start with one topic each day. For medical there has to be focus on biology, hence he suggested students to go through NEET exam solved papers just to get a gist of it.

He shared his own insights in the most simplistic and engaging manner to truly benefit the students. He mentioned SAI International school gave him a highly competitive environment and he was very thankful for being part of SAI International School. As a medical student it does involve working harder than you’ve ever worked in your life. The study of medicine, however as per Somyadipta, for  competitive exam preparation involves studying with depth and complete concentration There are plenty of pressures on being a medical student, but in reality it’s enjoyable, interesting and highly rewarding, especially in the light of what you’re working towards in realizing your dreams.

Studying medicine comes with a certain expectation to work harder on average than most other students. There was also a treat for the eyes when students undertook the virtual stroll in the corridor and campus of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhubaneswar.

The current scenario shouldn’t discourage or depress one’s preparation efforts for entrance to the medical field. If you are in class 11 under CBSE you have enough time to turn your weakness to your strength. Try and work hard more on the weaker areas. He earnestly answered and addressed all the questions put forth to him.

Shri Neelakantha Panigrahi, Sr. Principal SAI International School fondly recollected on the soft spoken Somyadipta’s school years. He had been the diligent hardworking student who dared to put his dreams to reality by sheer sincerity that led has led him to realize his dream of being a doctor.

SAI International School highly appreciates the career guiding approach that he undertook during the session by sharing extremely valuable tips on that will go a long way in helping for the preparation of the competitive examinations of the current batches of students. SAI International School wishes him all the very best for all his future endeavors.
