At SAI International Residential School, learning extends far beyond textbooks, empowering students to connect academic concepts with real-world experiences. Continuing this philosophy, the students of Class IX embarked on an insightful industrial visit to OMFED, Arilo, Cuttack, on 22nd July 2026, where they gained first-hand exposure to the fascinating world of dairy processing, food technology, and quality assurance.
The educational visit commenced with an engaging orientation session conducted by OMFED officials, who familiarised students with the organisation's history, establishment, and its significant contribution to empowering dairy farmers across Odisha while ensuring the production of safe and nutritious dairy products. The interactive session provided valuable insights into OMFED's role in strengthening the dairy sector and promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
Students were then guided through various sections of the dairy plant, where they closely observed the scientific and technological processes involved in dairy production. At the Production Unit, they witnessed the systematic stages of milk collection, quality testing, pasteurisation, and processing carried out under stringent hygienic standards. The tour further included visits to the Cold Storage Unit, the Automated Pouch Packing Section, and the Milk Powder Plant, enabling students to understand modern manufacturing techniques, automation, packaging systems, and rigorous quality control measures that ensure product safety and excellence.
The visit offered a meaningful blend of theoretical knowledge and practical exposure, helping students appreciate the science and technology behind one of the most essential everyday food products. It enhanced their understanding of food technology, industrial operations, hygiene protocols, and sustainable dairy practices while encouraging them to observe the importance of innovation, precision, and teamwork in large-scale production.
The industrial excursion proved to be an enriching experiential learning opportunity that broadened students' perspectives beyond the classroom. By witnessing real-world industrial practices, they developed a deeper appreciation for the dedication, scientific expertise, and collaborative effort involved in delivering quality dairy products to consumers.
Through such immersive educational experiences, SAI International Residential School continues to nurture curious, informed, and future-ready learners who are inspired to explore the world around them, think critically, and embrace lifelong learning.
