"Every artefact tells a story, every gallery preserves a legacy, and every visit inspires a deeper appreciation for our heritage." - Anonymous
Learning extends far beyond the four walls of a classroom, and at SAI International Residential School, students are encouraged to experience knowledge through meaningful exploration. On 21st July 2026, students embarked on an enriching educational excursion to the Odisha State Museum, Bhubaneswar, transforming textbook concepts into an engaging journey through history, culture, and heritage.
The visit offered students a unique opportunity to explore the museum's extensive collection of galleries, each presenting a different chapter of India's rich cultural and historical legacy. Students visited the Epigraphy, Archaeology, Numismatics, Art & Craft, Ancient Weapons, Mining & Geology, Pattachitra, Terracotta, Ivory & Bone Artefacts, and Metal Sculptures galleries, gaining valuable insights into the evolution of civilisation, artistic traditions, scientific progress, and cultural heritage.
As they observed ancient inscriptions, archaeological discoveries, historical coins, traditional artworks, fossils, sculptures, and intricately crafted artefacts, students developed a deeper understanding of India's remarkable civilizational journey and Odisha's rich artistic and cultural traditions. The exhibits offered fascinating perspectives on the lifestyles, craftsmanship, beliefs, and innovations of earlier generations, making history both tangible and memorable.
Throughout the educational tour, students displayed exemplary discipline, curiosity, and enthusiasm. They actively engaged with the exhibits, asked insightful questions, and carefully observed the historical collections, transforming the museum visit into an interactive learning experience. The excursion not only enhanced their observation, analytical, and critical thinking skills but also encouraged them to appreciate the importance of preserving India's invaluable cultural and historical treasures for future generations.
The visit served as a powerful reminder that museums are living repositories of knowledge, connecting the past with the present while inspiring future generations to value their heritage. By witnessing centuries of history and creativity firsthand, students gained a richer perspective on the contributions of our ancestors and the importance of safeguarding our cultural identity.
Through thoughtfully curated experiential learning opportunities like this, SAI International Residential Schoolcontinues to nurture curious, informed, and culturally aware learners. Such initiatives empower students to explore, discover, and connect with the rich legacy of the past while developing into responsible citizens who value history, heritage, and lifelong learning.
