In an increasingly dynamic financial world, financial literacy is an essential foundation for informed choices, responsible habits and sustainable financial well-being. With this purpose, the Interact Club of SAI International Residential School organised an insightful Financial Literacy Session on September 11, 2026, for students of Classes XI and XII Commerce and members of the Interact Club at the Astaranga Auditorium.

The session was conducted by Mr. Dasaratha Mishra, Former Chief General Manager, Reserve Bank of India, who engaged the students with practical insights into financial awareness and decision-making. Moving beyond textbook learning, the session introduced learners to important concepts including real rate of interest, power of compounding, the Rule of 72, risk and return, diversification and asset allocation. These concepts helped students understand how informed financial choices made today can influence long-term financial security and well-being.

The discussion also connected financial literacy with the realities of modern banking and digital finance. Students gained awareness of digital banking, digital payments, KYC, financial fraud and responsible banking practices, making the learning particularly relevant to the financial environment they will navigate as young adults.

An interactive question-and-answer session further encouraged students to think critically, clarify their understanding and relate financial principles to real-life situations. The exchange reinforced the importance of awareness, discipline and informed decision-making in managing finances and planning for the future.

The session highlighted that financial literacy is not simply about understanding money, but about developing the knowledge and confidence to make responsible choices. Organised by the Interact Club, the initiative reflected the spirit of student-led learning and service at SIRS, while equipping young learners with practical knowledge for life beyond the classroom.

Through such initiatives, SIRS continues to empower students to grow into financially aware, responsible and future-ready citizens, prepared to make wise choices for themselves, their families and the larger society.
