Armed Forces Flag Day or the Flag Day @ SIRS

December 7 is observed as the Armed Forces Flag Day or the Flag Day annually towards the collection of funds from the people of India for the welfare of the India Armed Force personnel. The Chakra House teachers of SAI International Residential School observed the Armed Forces Flag Day on December 7, 2018. Immediately after India achieved independence, a need arose for the government to manage the welfare of its defence personnel. On August 28, 1949, a committee set up under the defence minister decided to observe a Flag Day annually on December 7. The Flag Day is mainly observed to serve three basic purposes

  • Rehabilitation of battle casualties
  • Welfare of serving personnel and their families
  • Resettlement and welfare of ex-servicemen and their families.

The teachers of the Chakra House played an emotional video on the Indian soldiers about their bravery and sacrifices in fighting and guarding the nation.
