Anything that starts has to come to an end. The 3-day SAIMUN on the theme of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam came to an end in the presence of the chief guest Shri Asit Kumar Tripathy, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Odisha on July 28, 2018 at SAI International School. The students of SAI International Residential School benefitted a lot from their first SAIMUN experience. It was an exposure for a life time that they cherish always.
The closing ceremony started with a mesmerizing Odissi dance by the students of SAI International on the beautiful song Vande Mataram and infused patriotism in the auditorium. The SAIMUN TRIBUNE was also unveiled by the honorable chief guest. Shri Asit Kumar Tripathy congratulated the school on the sixth edition of SAIMUN. Addressing the audience Shri Tripathy said, “I express my greatest admiration for the SAI International group for having established Model United Nations in SAI International and making the students global citizen and has marked its place in the United Nations 70th year book, in United States. I’m privileged to see the level of debate and the delegations that takes place in SAIMUN and would like to congratulate the school to have become the most sought after school nationally.”
Interacting with the students Chairman Dr. B K Sahoo, shared inspirational stories and took the students out from their cocoons and suggested them to be the way they are as children and always be happy in any situation he also spoke and showed videos on empathy, being fearless as a child and giving quality time to connect with parents. His words were highly inspiring and motivating. Children got emotional and also tears dropped from their eyes. He, being a man of vision made it evident that he strongly believes in spreading happiness around by involving completely, dancing with the students on the stage.
SIRS students got involved in all the delegations, debates, discussions, planning, policy making and writing as well as editing the proposals. They received a gamut of experience and international exposure at the SAIMUN. They expressed their regards and gratitude to the SAI International fraternity as they came out more confident, focused, motivated and inspired. Students are looking forward to next year to participate with a new vigor and newer ideas.
