Educators from SAI International Residential School recently took part in the Pathways to Global Classrooms virtual sessions organised by AFS Intercultural Programs India on April 22 and 24, 2025. These interactive sessions were designed to equip educators with the tools to create globally competent classrooms by fostering inclusivity, empathy, and intercultural understanding.
Facilitated by certified AFS trainers, the sessions explored vital themes such as identity and culture, empathy and active listening, communication styles, stereotypes and microaggressions, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Educators actively engaged in collaborative discussions and reflection-based exercises like the Identity Task and the Cultural Iceberg concept, promoting deeper self-awareness and intercultural sensitivity.
This initiative aligns with AFS’s mission to develop Active Global Citizens—individuals who act with ethical insight and contribute to a more peaceful and equitable world. Through both synchronous and asynchronous learning, SIRS educators embraced this vision, reinforcing their commitment to nurturing globally aware learners in today’s multicultural classrooms.
