Water games

Is there anything better than playing water games on a hot summer day?? Children love water. They are water personified; very calming, adaptable and refreshing but when angry they are a not less than a tsunami. Let them blend in water and rejoice.

Water activities boost the sense organs; it enhances physical, cognitive and social skills. When children play with water, may be simply pouring will improve their physical dexterity and hand-eye coordination. You must be having your cousins or siblings around for the holidays, plan some water games or visit Water Park in and around your city with them. Water games should be on everyone’s summer bucket list, just like us. It can be paired with your outdoor camping activities. There are many benefits of water play like:

  • It develops physical skill: while playing in water children run around and jump because of the physical activity their muscles and bones develop.
  • It releases energy: children find water to be calming and exhilarated depending on the activity. Kicking and jumping leads to release of their energy and placing them in the right direction.
  • It is therapeutic: water games help them unwind, order their thoughts and relax.
  • Develops motor skills: water games develops core strength and co-ordination and stamina as children kick, splash and sweep their arms and hands through the water.
  • Develops social skills: water games help children to develop interaction amongst each other they comprehend how to communicate and learn to wait for their turn.
  • Stimulates creativity and imagination: it stimulates and stretches a child’s creativity and imagination.
  • Promotes cognitive development: water play enriches problem solving, makes him explore and experiment and ask questions. It builds up in making them understand the water properties.

Before you design your activity, think about what is the age group of people you have and plan accordingly. Then assemble all the tools you need for the different activities. Distribute your responsibilities amongst yourself. Keep the basics handy like

  • Towels
  • Buckets
  • Plastic cups
  • Water toys
  • Slippers
  • Backyard swimming pool for small children
  • Sponge
  • Other tools as per your requirement

What if it starts to rain while the games are on… well it’s more fun then!!!  Monsoons are about to break in a few days and kids will love to get drenched in it and some more invention will take place. Children device games as per the surroundings.
