Practising the principle of ‘service before self’, the interact club members of SIRS enthusiastically celebrated Global Youth Service Day on April 27, 2023 by visiting the rehabilitated people at Apna Ghar Ashram, a care home at Cuttack. Being socially responsible global citizens that they are, they spent time with the inmates of Apna Ghar Ashram, cheering & engaging them proactively with songs, dance, drama, thereby, bringing smiles on their faces. Our SAIoneers served fruit salad and juice to them, conveying best wishes for each inmate's recovery & and reintegration with the mainstream at large. This was a great opportunity for the students to learn about the 3Rs'- Rescue, Rehabilitation & Reintegration, experiencing a feeling of self-actualization by contributing towards bringing about an imperative change within their community.
As a whole, this Interact Club Initiative was a ‘shower of warmth’ and filled the SAIoneers with compassion, further inculcating thoughtfulness & empathy in them. The prominent take away for the students was that in giving we always receive.
