SPIC MACAY, CINEMA CLASSICS

SAI International Residential School had a screening of Gold Rush , an American comedy movie, presented to the students as part of SPIC MACAY, Cinema Classics on December 12, 2021.

SAI International Education Group was associated with SPIC MACAY for many years and the students have had the opportunity of learning about their own culture. The legacy of music, dance, theatre and Art showcased by eminent artists of the country was brought to students and institutions by the world renowed SPIC MACAY . SAI International, was immensely thankful to SPIC MACAY for presenting the  students a great opportunity to learn.

The students of class VI to IX and XI, participated in the SPIC MACAY  program to watch the famous Charlie Chaplin movie. The movie Gold Rush (1925) written, produced and directed by Charlie Chaplin. The film stars Charlie Chaplin as the central character. It combines elements of comedy and tragedy, putting forth a beautiful dramatic rendition. Gold rush is said to be one of the greatest works of Charlie Chaplin in the silent era of films. It’s one of the  longest, most expensive and elaborate comedies produced of that time. There are various reasons to organize a film screening or community cinema event; from gaining exposure for the film and the filmmaker to creating a unique and immersive experience for film fans. Films are more than purely entertainment, as they spark ideas, discussions and interest. It is pertinent to note the era of the movie and the stiff challenges that the making of the movie may have faced then.

This is part of a promotional campaign by The Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY), a voluntary youth movement which promotes intangible aspects of Indian cultural heritage by promoting Indian classical music, classical dance, folk music, yoga, meditation, crafts and other aspects of Indian culture; it is a movement with chapters in over 300 towns all over the world.

At the end of the program SAIoneers  Abhay  Raj Vedi and Anisha Agarwal of Class XI have participated in the interaction session.
