Holistic Health in Action: SAIoneers Find Balance and Empowerment in the 999 Challenge Initiated by C20

SAIoneers attended a transformative yoga session proactively participated in the 999 Challenge, a global initiative of the Integrated Holistic Health Working Group, Civil 20 (Sahodaya Schools, Bhubaneswar Chapter). The event took place at Astaranga Auditorium on June 26, 2023, with the esteemed Bri Niseema, Assistant Professor from Amrita University & National Coordinator of Ayudh India, the Global Youth Movement of Amrita, leading the session. SAI International Residential School organized this special yoga program on the G20 theme under the ambit of India’s presidency.

The yoga session aimed to introduce students to the profound benefits of yoga and promote a well-rounded approach to health and well-being. Through this engagement in the 999 Challenge, SlRS further strengthened its commitment to providing students with opportunities to explore integrated holistic health practices and cultivate a balanced lifestyle. Ms. Niseema skilfully guided the students through a series of postures, breathing exercises, and meditation techniques. Her expertise in merging traditional yoga principles with contemporary approaches created a transformative experience for the participants, fostering a sense of inner harmony, self-awareness, and overall wellness.

The 999 Challenge is a global initiative that encourages individuals to adopt a holistic approach to health, focusing on nine pillars of well-being: physical fitness, mental clarity, emotional resilience, social connections, spiritual nourishment, environmental consciousness, ethical values, economic well-being, and technological balance. The 999 challenge comprises of: 9 Rounds of Surya Namaskar 9 Minutes of Meditation 9 Days of Committed Practice of the above two (Yoga + Meditation) & aims to bring together individuals, organizations, and communities to participate in a series of activities that promote well-being, compassion, and social responsibility. The challenge involves committing nine minutes each to three different activities that would help personal growth, commitment to society, the power of collective action, and the potential we have to make a significant difference in the world.
