Empowering Women Through Awareness: SAIoneers’ SDG Project for Feminine Hygiene

As part of their active participation in the 16th Global Youth Peace Fest (GYPF2023) from September 30th to October 2nd, 2023, at Colombo, Sri Lanka, SAIoneers were engaged in a significant SDG project on August 25th, 2023, in preparation for the upcoming 1st Asian SDG Challenger Trophy. In a remarkable display of empathy and commitment, students from both SAI International School (SIS) and SAI International Residential School (SIRS) embarked on an Awareness Project targeted at 60 female cafeteria and housekeeping staff members at SIRS. During the project, they conscientiously educated these staff members about the critical importance of feminine hygiene, using informative presentations and discussions.

Moreover, they screened a compelling video on menstrual health to raise awareness and destigmatize the subject. As a practical and empowering aspect of their initiative, the students also conducted hands-on sessions teaching the staff how to create sanitary napkins at home using readily available resources. To further extend their support, they generously donated sanitary napkins, ensuring that their efforts had a tangible impact on the well-being of these women. This initiative not only showcased the students' dedication to the Sustainable Development Goals but also highlighted their compassion and commitment to improving the lives of others in their community.
